ENCOUNTERING THE POPE: The Parowski family of Altoona was thrilled to have an encounter with Pope Benedict XVI when he presided at an Evening Prayer Service at the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls in Rome. The Saturday, June 28 service initiated the celebration of the Year of Saint Paul. Seated along the Basilica’s main aisle, the family members got a clear view of the pontiff, were able to touch his hands, and could see the pilgrims reaching out to him (photos at left and right). Dr. Keith Parowski took the picture of his thrilled wife Renee (left) and daughters Katerina and Danielle (center photo) in front of the massive statue of Saint Paul the stands in the Basilica’s courtyard.
